Alexander runs our Financial Investigation Practice and our Tax Advice Practice for metallurgical and mining companies.

He represents our clients in tax disputes in courts of arbitration and courts of general jurisdiction and also defends them in criminal business and tax cases.

Alexander has vast experience in settling legal problems in taxation within consulting projects, in audits and arbitration tax litigation. He has been in charge of developing a typical model of tax accounting in compliance with Article 25 of Russia’s Tax Code.

He is also very experienced in implementing enhancement projects for state entities and has, for instance, participated in:
• Working group to prepare a reorganization plan for Russia’s RAO UES
• Working group to draft a report to Russia’s President on optimizing tax policy operation
• Drafting a regulation on counteracting civil service corruption
• Project on a full financial analysis of Russia’s Pension Fund

Alexander has worked as an expert and manager on IBRD and EBRD-financed projects.
He has also participated in and managed independent investigations at the request of clients, including areas such as:
• Abuse of office by corporate management
• Sham spin-offs of property and assets from corporate ownership
• Malicious and fraudulent bankruptcy
• Shaky claims for business take-overs
He is highly experienced in public speaking at seminars and conferences.

Alexander has published numerous articles in a wide range of professional journals, such as Financial Russia, Bookkeeping-Taxes-Law, Financial and Accounting Consultation, Tax Bulletin, Chief Accountant, Consultant and the collected works entitled Your Tax Lawyer. He has also contributed chapters on tax crime to the two textbooks Tax Law and Science of Criminalistics, which are widely used by lecturers and students at Moscow State University.
