Izvestiya newspaper writes that tax authorities soon will be unable to handle suits on debt recovery from individuals if it is less than 1,5 thous.RUR. Corresponding draft legislation was passed by State Duma in the first seating on July 9.

 “In the text of draft legislation there is nothing mentioned about retention periods, period of limitation. If this gap is not eliminated, individual is still vulnerable. For example, tax authority when addressing to court, will point out that the main amount of indebtedness emerged six years ago, but reached the stated amount only now, while citizen did not pay his/her debt six years ago. In this situation it will be hard for an individual to prove that six years ago the payments were done. Few people keep payment documents for such a long time,” commented Head of FBK-Legal Tax, Galina Akchurina.
